Community guidelines
The Club is where ORUS members talk: the open rooms, the clubs you join, the people you follow and message. These guidelines say what you can expect from other people there and what they can expect from you. They apply on orus.uk and in the app, and they sit alongside our App Terms of Service, Site Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. The one rule underneath the rest
People come here about their sleep, their training, their food and their health. Treat what they say with the care you would want for your own. Be honest about who you are, kind about who they are, and careful about anything that could hurt someone who takes it seriously.
2. What you can post
- Your own experience: what worked, what did not, what you are trying.
- Questions, and answers from your own knowledge, clearly as your own view.
- Photographs and video you took or have the right to share.
- Links to things that help, including products, where they are relevant and not an advertisement.
- Posts under a pseudonym where a room allows it. An anonymous post is still yours and still under these guidelines.
3. What you cannot post
- Anything illegal, abusive, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexual, or that harms or endangers others.
- Medical advice presented as fact, or anything that promotes disordered eating, extreme restriction, unsafe training practices, or stopping or changing prescribed medication.
- A claim to be a doctor, clinician, coach or other professional that is not true. Verified experts on ORUS carry a badge the ORUS desk has checked; nobody else may present themselves as one.
- Other people’s personal information, or health information about anyone but yourself, including a photograph of someone who did not agree to it.
- Advertising, spam, referral farming, or recruiting clients outside the proper practitioner listing process.
- Content you do not have the right to share, including course material, paid content and other people’s work.
- Anything that circumvents a room’s rules, a ban, or another person’s block.
4. Health talk
Most conversations here touch health. Say what you did and how it went; do not tell someone else what to do with their body, their diet or their medication. If you are worried about someone, say so to them, and point them to a professional. ORUS is not a clinical service and no post here is medical advice.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact 999 (in the UK or Malaysia) or your local emergency number, not the Club.
5. Clubs and their rooms
A club’s members’ room belongs to that club. The people who run it may set rules for the room, pin posts, remove posts and comments, mute or remove members from the room, and archive it. They must give a reason when they remove or mute, and the reason is sent to you. They cannot dismiss a report about their own club; only ORUS can.
The open rooms are run by ORUS under these guidelines.
6. Reports, and what happens to them
- You can report any post, comment, message or person from the app. Reports are read by ORUS staff and, for content in a club’s room, by the people who run that club.
- We may remove content, restrict features, mute or remove someone from a room, or suspend or close an account. Every moderation action is written to a ledger with who acted and why, and a removal or mute is sent to the author with the reason.
- We aim to act quickly on reports of illegal content, content that puts someone at risk, or content about a person who has not agreed to it.
- We do not tell the person you reported who reported them.
- If you think an action against you was wrong, email hello@orus.uk with the post or message and we will look again.
7. Blocking and muting
You can block anyone. A blocked person cannot message you, see your profile, or reach you through a room, and if you were in a coaching relationship with them it ends. You can also mute a room or a conversation. Neither tells the other person.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a licence to host and show it for the purpose of running ORUS, as set out in the App Terms. When you delete a post it leaves the Club; when you close your account, what you posted is attributed to a deleted account rather than to you.
9. Changes
We may change these guidelines. The current version is always at this address with the date it was last updated.
Annex MY: Malaysia
MY.1 Law
These guidelines apply in Malaysia as written. Nothing in them limits any right you have under Malaysian law that cannot be excluded, and content that is unlawful in Malaysia is not permitted whether or not it is named above.
MY.2 Emergencies
In an emergency in Malaysia, call 999. Do not rely on the Club or on ORUS to summon help.
MY.3 Language
These guidelines are provided in English. Where we publish a Bahasa Melayu translation and there is a conflict, the English version governs, except where Malaysian law requires otherwise.
